Jeff gave me a beautiful painting, and Devon and Simon gave me some lovely smelly bath things. I think Devon is much more excited about my birthday than I am. After I finished opening her present to me, she kept going back into her room for more. So, I also have a stuffed pig, a book about an old lady who finds a mouse in her house, and a basketball. Lucky me!!!
My horoscope: The more you get out and about and meet people and get involved this year the more opportunities you will get for financial, emotional and even spiritual growth. Venus, your ruler, and Pluto, planet of power, combine on your birthday, giving you the strength and the authority to change your life, and others' lives, for the better.
What a nightmare it's proving to be just to go on a little vacation with Simon. Here's what I have to do: confirm that his birth has been registered; haggle with Air Canada so that they put his name on our airline ticket instead of just "Eustace/Leah and inf"; apply for an expedited birth certificate (using aforementioned airline reservation) so that I get it in time to travel; get a long form birth certificate that shows who his parents are; get a notarized letter from Jeff "allowing" me to travel across the border with our son; and, last but not least, get a passport for him. Sheesh. It would all be rather easy if there wasn't a 12-month backlog in the birth certificate department. But no, I have to push, push, push. If I'm really desperate, I'll call on my MPP to help (he happens to be Minister of Consumer and Business Affairs, which is the department that handles birth certificates).
I'm really going to be ready to lie on the beach after all this.
On another note, I just spent a wonderful weekend visiting with my uncle, Swami Sivananda, who I haven't seen in ten years. My sister came down from Toronto for the occasion as well. He brought Devon a wonderful Babar book called "Yoga for Elephants." She's been having a blast practicing sun salutations :)
