We've decided on a major house project for next summer: a new front porch... the kind you can actually sit on to watch the world going by. Let me know if you can recommend someone to do the work. We're going to replace our windows too. Imagine having windows that open! Oh joy!

I think Devon was having a tantrum for a total of about four hours yesterday. I don't think I've ever come closer to losing it. It's actually amazing how many times you're dealt with a challenging child-rearing situation, and it's amazing that you're able to stay calm. This is probably awful to say, but I can understand why some people lose it with their kids. It takes infinite patience to get through a day like yesterday, and it sure helps to have a partner who can give you a break when you feel your blood start to boil. Thank goodness for Jeff!

In between tantrums, we had a great time at Saunder's Farm.

Simon is growing like a weed. He's already wearing size six and nine-month clothes. He's razzing like a maniac, and has just been introduced to the exersaucer, which he loves. He smiles and laughs constantly, and is still sleeping 12 hours at night. I'm also managing to get him to sleep a few hours during the day. I can't imagine having a better baby.

"The Long Run" was very good. I've also just finished "Nightime is My Time" by Mary Higgins Clark (a very light murder mystery), and am now starting "A Voyage on Sunday" by Edward O. Phillips. It's excellent so far. Very funny.
