Ahhh...a relaxing evening at home. Jeff has gone out with the boys, so I'm free to do what I please. As soon as I finish this posting, I'm going downstairs to have a glass of wine and read the newspaper. I might even dive into my novel. If I'm feeling really risque (sorry, don't know how to do accents), I'll turn on some classical music. Now that's my idea of heaven.
We had tons of fun today at Olivia's birthday party. It was at Cosmic Adventures and Devon had an amazing time. So did Jeff and I! What a great way to do a party. Everything is taken care of, no muss, no fuss. I'm seriously considering it for future celebrations.
Devon had a great week. On Friday, when I picked her up from daycare, she didn't want to come home. That's a good sign! She also seems to have adjusted to the reduction in her napping hours. She has been rather tired in the evenings, but is otherwise happy. The daycare teachers love her and say she's always a delight.
Okay, those of you who don't want to hear potty talk, sign off now...
We have begun the training process. Devon has already used the potty twice, with particular success today (I won't go into the details). She's a natural. Even when she's not near the potty, she announces "all done!" whenever she's all done. It probably helps that she's encouraged at daycare to use the potty before she has her diaper changed. It will be soooo nice to be diaper free, and should save us about $30/month I figure.
I survived my first week back at full-time work, though it was tough. I'm starting to get that familiar "I'm in the wrong profession" feeling again. Not sure whether I'll pursue the thought or not.
Well, I am surviving this week's life changes. Devon started her new daycare on Monday. I went with her for a couple of hours and she played quite happilly. This morning, I dropped her off at 9am and picked her up at noon. She didn't want to leave and gave the caregivers hugs on her way out. She's quite a little charmer. I think they're smitten.
Devon is going to be really happy there. There is lots to do, lots of things to get messy with, good food and lots of attention. She seems to be adjusting to one nap per day pretty well, although she hasn't had a nap at daycare yet (tomorrow is the test). She'll get lots of stimulation and gobble it all up.
I, on the other hand, am a wreck. I don't really want to go back to work full-time. However, I've been finding it really stressful to work 3 days at work, 1 day at home. I'm always juggling things, and my workload hasn't changed so I'm putting in the equivalent of 5 or 6 days work each week. I might as well get paid for it. Also, the new daycare for Devon is only full-time, so it seemed like a good time to make a change. We'll see how it goes, but I'm going to miss Devon like crazy. I was practically crying all morning. I feel a lot of guilt. Sigh!
