Feeling better today. Devon woke up crying around 9:30pm last night. She was kind of shaking and clinging to us like crazy. Jeff and I decided that teething was maybe not the problem...she seemed frightened of something. The more we thought about it, the more sense it made. About five days ago, Jeff and Devon were watching a cartoon called Pingu that's about a penguin. In the cartoon, Pingu runs away from home. He goes into a cave and gets scared. I didn't see it, but Jeff said there were skulls and it was dark. Apparently Devon got frightened by it.
So, we put Devon back to bed last night, and left her light on. Guess what? She slept through until morning and woke up happy. I think she might suddenly be afraid of the dark!
I'm comatose. Devon, I think, is teething and is none too happy about it. The night before last we couldn't get her to bed until 10:30pm, then she was up in the night. Last night she woke up around 1am and I rocked her for an hour before she would stop crying. Then she woke again at 6am. Jeff took her downstairs and all I could hear was screaming. I finally rescued him about 10 minutes later. I couldn't possibly sleep through it anyway. Today I'm at work and my eyeballs hurt. I contemplated running home for a nap at lunch, but figured that would just make me feel worse...and so I persevere.
Other than the bouts of screaming, Devon is still pretty cute. Her new words of the weekend (other than thank you) are hot and hat. She also walked up to the television the other day, saw her reflection, and said "hi baby!" while waving.
I start full-time back to work next week, and Devon moves to her new daycare. I'm not feeling quite so good about it as I've been pretending to be. In fact, I feel downright depressed. It sucks! However, it really is the best thing for us to do at the moment, so I'll have to just live with it.
Well, there's lots more I feel like writing, but I don't have the energy so it will have to wait.
I think I've fixed the link to the photo of our room (below). Let me know.
Just spent a great couple of days at Jane's cottage on Golden Lake (near Killaloe). The weather was perfect, and Jane was the perfect hostess (as always!). Thanks Jane!
