Oh what a wonderful day I had! I took the day off and put Devon in daycare. I haven't had 8 hours totally to myself since she was born. So, what did I do? Well, Jeff and I dropped her off, then headed to Second Cup for a latte. We sat and read the papers for a while then I dropped him off at work. I headed to Chapters for a nice long browse, then headed to the knitting store. I haven't knit since before my exam and had been saving up a gift certificate. I picked out wool for two Debbie Bliss toddler patterns. I double and triple checked with multiple sales women (no salesmen, funnily enough :)) that I was buying the right wool for the pattern. I was told that Bliss patterns "knit big." For one pattern, I have a slightly thicker yarn than the pattern calls for, so was told to knit for a three-year-old so that I get a size two. I'm worried already!
After Wool-Tyme, I picked up my sister and headed for Bayshore. I need a whole new wardrobe, and Emily was a great helper...she was running around checking for sizes, recommending stylish footwear, making sure everything coordinated, searching out belts. I felt like I had a personal shopper. It was fantastic!
One funny story. At one store there was a rather dowdy older woman behind the cash. As I was paying, Emily wrapped her arms around me, planted a big kiss on my neck, and siiiiighed. The cashier got completely flustered. She started stammering and forgot to give me my change. Only later did I realize that she must have thought we were lovers, not sisters. Must have been a shock to her old-fashioned self. Ha!
On the Devon front, she now sneaks up to people and says "Boo!" What a scary girl!
Sorry I couldn't write much earlier. I was at work and extremely busy. Plus, I had Devon in tow. Apparently she took two steps when I wasn't watching (she had multiple 'entertainers' throughout the day), but I figure it doesn't count unless the parents see it first!
I'm still pretty excited about passing the exam. I got 160 out of 200 correct. The passing mark was 145 and...get this...the *average* score was 145.27! Seems to me that they made the exam pretty difficult if 50% of people didn't pass. I'm certainly glad I didn't know that going in. It would have made me even more nervous.
Now I just wait for 'official' notification from the CFRE Board. Then I can add the letters behind my name. Can't wait!
I've been working like a slave the last 10 days or so. I've put in enough hours that I dont' have to do any work at home for about 2 weeks.
I will probably be taking a trip to Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Whitehorse in early June. I'd like to take a few extra days in Whitehorse to look around...I've never been.
I'm really getting bad about posting aren't I? I've just been feeling really lethargic lately.
Our weekend with Pierre and Chris was amazing. Port Perry is a very pretty town, although we spent most of our time around Chris' parents' place just north of town. We stayed up too late, drank lots of wine and ate very well. Good friends, good food, good wine...what more do you need?
Devon has been doing so many new things. It's hard to keep up with her. She now says "glasses" (sounds more like "assssss"), "bubbles" (bubbooo) and "Wow!." That last one's a hit. She pronounces it with exactly the right expression and intonation. She's doing lots of animal sounds too. She meows and barks at every opportunity. Today we went to the Experimental Farm and she mooed at all the cows. She was so enthralled that she walked around holding onto just one of my fingers. She walked right up to a calf and planted a big wet kiss right on its nose. It responded by licking her hand. My Mom was able to capture the whole thing on film, so I hope it turns out.
Devon's also learning to identify all sorts of things. She can find her bellybutton. She knows where my nose and eyes are (I have to be fast though because she immediately jabs a finger right in my eyeball). She can also find all the caterpillars in "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."
It amazes me how much she can understand. I can ask her to clap, she claps. I tell her to pat her head, she pats her head. I tell her to pull off her socks, and she does. The list goes on. Isn't it amazing that a little helpless 4.5 pound creature can turn into a little person in only just over a year?
As for me, my lethargy continues to foil my attempts to do anthing but lie around reading. I don't know if it's leftover from finishing my exam, or whether it's just the springtime blahs. Hopefully I get over it soon.
