I spent $181 on my hair today. This is not something I do very often. In fact, I think it sets a new record. I just felt like something different, so I got some radical highlights. They're a bit chunky looking (there are some 'so blonde it's almost white' bits), but what the hell. Since I was in a selfish mood, I picked up some fancy shampoo and a product called "Big Wig" that I'm particularly fond of.
My stylists' face lit up when I told him that I didn't want highlights that nobody could see. He smiled slyly and said "ohhhh...we can give you highlights you can see alright."
Needless to say, Jeff almost had a heart attack when he heard how much I spent. I reminded him that I'm really quite below average when it comes to spending money on myself. I hardly ever buy new clothes, I'm happy with whatever make up is on sale at Shopper's Drug Mart and, until this afternoon, I was tolerant of the No Name shampoo we were using. It really could be much worse. In fact, maybe he's just getting too used to my frugality. Maybe I'll have to do something about that.
Now that I've built this up, it's probably all in my head and no one will even notice the change.
By the way, Nelson (my hair guy) has his own website. I'm sure he'd love for you to check it out. It's called Hair on Acid.
I am so tired. I think I've been burning the candle at both ends for a few too many weeks. Since the end of December, I've been working each day, then studying for my CFRE exam every night. I can't wait for it to be over. My application is being reviewed right now. I know that because today I got an email from the certification board asking for clarification on something. Hopefully, my acceptance to write the exam will arrive soon.
On Friday morning, I'm presenting on one of the books we're reading. Fortunately, it was a really easy read. The same can't be said of the second book I'll be presenting on. Oh well, only 6 more weeks and it will all be over. Keep your fingers crossed that I maintain my sanity in the meantime (please, please, please let the new cafe open soon!).
On that note, I'm going to go and lie in bed and read a fluffy magazine. Ah, sweet escape!
Actually, before I go I should note that Devon is now answering the telephone. If she's anywhere near a remote control when the phone rings, she picks it up, holds it to her ear, and says "hi." She's used to seeing us with the cordless phone, so I guess it does kind of look like a remote.
