***NEWSFLASH*** Finally, finally, finally...there's a cafe opening at the end of our street. It looks like it will be a real Italian cafe (it's spelled caffe after all!) and it's going into the former location of The Cottage. It's really a perfect place for it (if I do say so myself). It has a patio for the summer too. Whoopee!!! It's about time.
This week has been my first week working from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesday was great. I managed to get almost 5 hours of work in (I'm only working 2 half days, so that's pretty good). In retrospect it's very good that I had at least one productive day because today has been much less so. My grandmother broke her arm last night. She's in pain and having trouble getting things accomplished, so she's going to stay with us through the weekend. So, I'm looking after the baby and looking after Grandma's needs at the same time. I have a conference call at 4pm. That should be interesting. My grandmother can watch Devon, but won't be able to do much if she needs to be picked up and moved away from something dangerous. Oh well, I guess I'll have to rely on the exersaucer and a video. Rats!
Devon's been very cute the last few days. She loves it when I chase her around the house saying "I'm going to get you!" She crawls like mad then will suddenly stop because she wants to get caught. She's also standing on her own a little bit. This has resulted in a few bumps and scrapes today, but that comes with the territory.
I'm going to run. Devon has just fallen silent in her crib, so now's my chance to work.
Ahhhh...another relaxing weekend. Once again, my parents took Devon overnight. It was a great break. We went cross country skiing and to the Mekong for dinner. This morning I picked up Devon and we went to her swim class at Dovercourt. She just loves it. This is her third session and she shows no signs of stopping.
A couple of developments: Devon turned one and immediately started throwing tantrums. I'm not kidding. She woke up the day after her birthday and WHAM! Oh well, we ignore her and it seems to work. She is also getting closer to walking. She's still very cautious, but she'll now walk along holding onto just one hand. We're getting there, but trust me, I'm not rushing her.
Today is Jeff's last day of parental leave. He's feeling a bit sentimental. I, however, start my new work routine this week: 3 days at the office, 2 half days at home. I think it will work out just fine.
Off I go to do some meal planning for the week (my latest initiative...we'll see how long it lasts!).
