You may have noticed that I'm not writing very much lately. Well, since Jeff is home things are busy and since I'll be going back to work in two weeks, I'm concentrating on reading and relaxing. I'll try to post things every once in a while, but it's becoming more difficult.
We took Devon to see Santa last week. He was very good. He came over to her first and talked to her, then got me to carry her over to his big chair. I sat her down on his lap and her bottom lip immediately stuck way out and she started to cry. He bounced her, sang to her, gave her a candy cane...nothing worked. Finally, I sat on Santa's lap holding Devon. She still pouted, but she stopped crying.
In other news, Devon is clapping and saying 'hi' (although it sounds more like aieeeee). She's also climbing up the stairs...pretty darn quickly too. Her naps are getting better. She cries less and less each time.
We're having a hell of a time finding daycare. Those who know me will know that I've looked into everything. Even Children's Village, which I was kind of counting on, looks unlikely at this point. I applied to many of these places when she was born, and they still can't do anything for us. We do have an appointment with a woman on Monday up at Merivale and Carling. I heard about her through the former daycare provider of someone I know. I guess networking is the only way we're going to find something, so, if anyone reading this knows of an opening somewhere, let us know.
That's all for now. Jeff and I have to get ready for his office Christmas party tonight. It's at his boss' house out in Manotick and is being catered by the Lone Star. Should be fun. Devon will be having a sleepover at Granny and Grandpa's.
I just went to the President's Choice Financial website to check our their banking fees. Naturally, I got side-tracked by their offer calculate what I can afford to spend if we were to buy a new house (click on 'what can I afford'). It estimated that we could comfortably afford a $580,000 house. Rockcliffe here we come!
Really, come on now. We have enough trouble making ends meet with our ... well, our much less expensive house. I can see why banks come up with figures like this. It's an ego boost to think that you can spend this kind of money...and I'm sure that some poor suckers fall for it and end up mired in debt. I'm happy to say that we may live in a teeny house, but we're debt free. Well, until daycare starts in February anyway!
