Today is Jeff's last day of work before he goes on paternity leave (until February 11th). I'm feeling pretty sentimental because it also means that today is my last day with just Devon and I. I suspect she'll be getting some extra loving from her sappy old mother.

I don't actually go back to work until January 2nd (I'm on vacation as of Monday), so Jeff and I will have 3.5 weeks together with Devon. I'm really looking forward to it. We've tried not to make a huge to-do list because, as I'm sure you've all experienced, that's just setting us up for stress and disappointment. Instead we'll just decide what to do one day at a time and enjoy the holidays with lots of peace and quiet (I hope!). I'll be going to work full-time in January then part-time starting in February when Devon goes into daycare.

That said, we do have one project: wean Devon off needing us to fall asleep. I just haven't had the energy or patience to listen to her scream from her crib everytime she has a nap (which she's doing now by the way and I'm trying to ignore it!). So, I've been napping with her. As a result, I'm not getting anything done (this blog is a prime example).

As for Devon's latest tricks, there are a few: she's climbing up and down stairs; she's climbing her safety gates (it's pretty funny...she reaches up with her arms and grabs on, then lets her legs swing around underneath her); she's pulling things out out and putting them back in; she's eating dinner with us every night and trying lots of new things; and, probably other stuff that I can't think of right now.

Okay, that's it, I can't stand the crying anymore and she really does need to sleep before 10:30am when I go over to Marni's place.

Ciao!
