Is it Tuesday already? I've just come back from grocery shopping at Loblaws. Here's what I learned: it is a really stupid idea to go grocery shopping the first day of school, immediately following a long weekend, and at the Loblaws closest to Carleton University. The shelves were decimated. It was interesting to see what was missing though. All the diet soft drinks were gone, but there were plenty of regular soft drinks. All the zucchini was gone, but there were lots of carrots. Lots of cat food too. Phew. Our cats were getting skinnier by the day.

We had a great weekend. Killaloe was lovely. The company was divine (thanks Jane) and the food delicious. Devon figured out how to pull her hat off her head. I've now resorted to putting sunscreen on baldy because if I put the hat on, it immediately comes off. What a fun game! I'm now on a quest to find hats with velcro straps.

The tooth continues to emerge amidst much fanfare. Is it a coincidence that Devon now says "nanananananananananaaaaaaaa" and blows raspberries while eating her food? It probably is, but maybe having a tooth makes these things easier.

In other news, I am doing my spring cleaning. But it isn't spring you say? I know, but being six months late is better than usual. Yesterday I cleaned all the floors, the windows, the baseboards...then I realized I needed to find a room that could act as the microcosm of the house. This project was just getting too big. So, I turned my attentions on the kitchen. I moved the appliances, wiped them all down, did the floors, washed the walls, washed the ceiling...then for a change of pace started making baby food. I made a yummy lentil stew from one of the baby food books I have (I thought it was yummy anyway...we'll see what Devon thinks tomorrow). Finally I collapsed in a big heap on the bed and lulled myself to sleep by reading Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House (no kidding!). I'm on a mission.
